About

I'm a Ph.D. candidate in Information Science at Cornell. Before that, I coordinated the development of Chile's first National AI Policy from inside its Ministries of Economy and Science — and watching a technology get governed in real time, with real constraints and trade-offs, is still what drives my work.

These days my research follows three questions: how countries regulate technologies they're still learning about, how AI can open up (or flatten) public participation, and how professionals actually use it once the hype fades. I work mostly in Latin America and the Global South, where I also advise UNESCO and the Inter-American Development Bank and co-founded Foresight. At Cornell I'm advised by Cristobal Cheyre, with Qian Yang and Malte Ziewitz on my committee.

Oct 2026 Thrilled and honored to have been selected for the second edition (2026/2027) of the Youth for Peace: UNESCO Intercultural Leadership Programme, among 6,786 applicants from more than 170 countries. I look forward to working with this global cohort on human connection and dialogue in the age of artificial intelligence.
Oct 2026 Taught the third class, on Risk Management, Public Procurement, and AI, of the training for public servants in Uruguay organized by the Office of Planning and Budget (OPP) and UNESCO (October 14).
Oct 2026 Participating as an invited expert in the methodological validation workshop for the AI readiness scorecard for Latin America and the Caribbean being developed by the IDB and CENIA, in Santiago (October 8–9).
Oct 2026 Presented on data, bias, and security in building trustworthy AI systems at the second meeting of the Youth Network for AI Ethics in Latin America and the Caribbean, convened by UNESCO with Stratego and Samsung (October 6), before nearly 150 network members.
Oct 2026 Our project "Leveraging AI to Scale Public Participation," with Maria Goula, Cristobal Cheyre, Malte Ziewitz, and Lee Humphreys, was selected for a Tier 2 AI & Society Seed Grant at Cornell University.
